Week 11 - Housekeeping

Two weeks left to go, here are the standings:

1st: Madison/Chuck, 71-40 (11-1)

2nd: Alexx/Pete, 70-41 (10-2)

3rd: Mar/Dan, 67-44 (11-1)

4th: Sue/Garry, 65-46 (9-3)

5th: Mitch, 64-47 (8-4)

It was Rutgers week, so I'll be taking a week off from writing a reflection. This is mostly because I wasted too much time playing FIFA this week--my Leicester City career is going brilliantly thanks to that effort, so I got that going for me. It is also partly because I want Rutgers gone from the Big Ten. Their fans don't even go to their games, why would I want to watch my team play them? And would you look at that: Pete has sent out a good piece for you to read. My favorite part is the re-imagining of college football structure. That's something that desperately needs to happen, will probably happens soon, and will probably be screwed up since Pete isn't in charge of it.

Just a couple of notes for the pick'em, bullet point style:

- Way to go Mar/Dan & Madison/Chuck for going 11-1 in picks. I honestly think getting a perfect score on picks for a week would be cooler than winning. I'll never achieve this, but maybe you guys will.

- Libby/Time will be joining the picks for the next two weeks. This week will be more of a tune-up before the rivalries next week. I'll have to think of something fun to go along with our celebrity pickers, so stay tuned.

- I think this is the first time we've had no ties in the rankings. There's clear separation of teams into tiers. Tier 1 are the favorites, Madison/Chuck & Alexx/Pete. Tier 2 are the dark horse Mar/Dan. Tier 3 are the underdogs, Sue/Garry & Mitch. It'd take a miracle for me to win at this point, but I'll send in no concession. Next week will have at least 15 picks, plenty of chances to make up ground.

- The SEC has basically ruined picks this week with their pseudo-bye weeks before the final game of the season. Pete mentioned this and it is so dumb. Maybe Pete, Tim, and I can come up with a plan over Thanksgiving to pitch to the NCAA for a total schedule overhaul.

- I think there's a good chance with the amount of picks left we'll have a clear winner, but if we don't I've decided on a tiebreaker. The championship games and Army-Navy games are a bonus overtime tiebreaker week if we need it. Furthermore, these games will be picked against the spread to make it more difficult. In addition, as a final tiebreaker, participating teams will need to guess the score of the Army-Navy game. Whoever is closest to the real margin of victory, then to the closest overall score will win the final tiebreaker. If people guess everything the same we get a tie because ties happen.

I think that's it. Good luck.
